Hanson Wade Group is a private equity backed business intelligence organisation that creates niche information products in the form of conferences, databases and communities across life sciences, construction, and HR. The company was established in 2008 and has delivered exceptional consistent growth. We are seeking a hands-on FC who is keen to join a fast-growing business and continue to progress their development and career ambitions.
The role:
This role is a key position in the company, to further enhance the finance function and ensure that it remains fully geared to support the business, as it continues its rapid growth. The role is a broad and diverse one, requiring an innovative but structured mind-set, and requires an individual that will thrive in a fast-paced private equity backed environment. The role is ultimately to provide direct support for the CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ownership of financial and investor/financing reporting and compliance - monthly, quarterly and year end accounting; including consolidated group accounts, (one primary trading entity), tax and treasury matters
• Ownership of the year end process and external audit
• Cash management in a multi-currency environment with the production of regular cash-flow forecasts and reports
• Document and manage finance controls and champion the control environment within the business
• Finalise the implementation of a monthly commission system, plus quarterly incentives for other functions
• Management information and ad-hoc reporting and analysis: Production and development of data and reports as required by management, with the ability to interpret and explain the output
• Manage the current accounting team, as well as assist the CFO in identifying needs and investing in the team as the business continues to grow
• Develop the finance team’s profile within the business, assisting to solve problems, streamline processes and build trust
• On-going review of all finance processes and procedures to ensure they scale and remain fit for purpose, with the ability to re-engineer inefficient practices with innovative solutions where necessary
• Manage ad hoc investor and lender financial information requirements
• Lead on Technical Accounting areas such as capitalisation and equity accounting
To be successful you will require the following:
• Qualified Chartered Accountant (ideally qualified from a large accounting firm)
• Technically strong, with UK GAAP knowledge in a multi-currency environment with material US exposure
• Exposure to accounting systems and processes and the development of them
• Strong team player and business partner, who can work with and support all functions within the business
• Strong communicator, with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels within the business
• Leveraged business experience (private equity or otherwise) would be beneficial
