Erin Thomas - Marketing Manager
I joined Hanson Wade Group in 2020 as a Graduate Marketing Assistant after completing my Master’s degree in Digital Marketing. Since then, I have progressed to Marketing Executive, Senior Marketing Executive, and then, in 2023, to Marketing Manager, enabling me to begin my journey as a people manager.
With progression came the opportunity to build my technical marketing skills, which have helped me deliver quality end-to-end campaigns using a wide range of channels and analytical thinking. Throughout this training I have always felt supported by my fellow marketers to be the best I can be, and I feel lucky to be a part of such a friendly and uplifting team.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to lead the marketing for the World CNS portfolio, which undertook a re-brand and allowed me to put my stamp on the portfolio, continuously evolve my marketing skills, and even go onsite in San Francisco. Working in events can be challenging dealing with deadlines across multiple projects, but it is also very rewarding both individually and commercially. Your success is always celebrated with monthly awards, team nights out, and more.
Over the past 4 years, Hanson Wade Group has provided me with endless opportunities, valuable skills, and friends for life, and I am excited for what the future holds!
Nick Robertson - Marketing Manager
I joined Hanson Wade Group in 2022 as a Marketing Executive, having worked for just under a year at a similar company that delivered webinars.
I had an intensive training plan during the first couple of weeks, to be able to confidently manage my own events within a portfolio. It was a challenge adapting to the fast-paced nature of the role, but it was much better to jump straight in and learn fast rather than slowly adapting to the new processes. The marketing training plan was extremely well thought out and the whole team provided support whenever I had a question or needed something checked.
I found myself learning the foundations of how we manage campaigns quickly, largely due to how much the company emphasises learning not just how to do things, but the reasons why we do things. This enabled me to get to grips with the ins and outs of campaign execution whilst also being able to tweak and put my stamp on my marketing campaigns.
During my first year as a Marketing Executive, I worked on a wide variety of events, from launches based on cloud computing to larger events related to HR in Life Sciences. Although it was challenging to juggle different audiences, I feel this was vital in developing the skillset I have today. Whether it’s setting up a LinkedIn Lead Gen campaign or optimising Google Ads, a typical day running an event is very much up to us to decide. It’s nice to be given a high level of autonomy so you can set up your calendar and week in a way that suits you!
After being promoted to Senior Marketing Executive in just under 10 months, I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to manage the LEAP HR: Life Sciences portfolio of events (a group of predominantly US-based HR events focusing on Pharma & Biotech). It’s been so rewarding to see this portfolio go from strength to strength! It’s also great that a key part of the culture at Hanson Wade Group is to shout about the wins and strong performance is always recognised.
Most recently, I’ve focused on helping new marketers with training, which is a nice full-circle moment from when I joined around 2 years ago and now I have been promoted to Marketing Manager. It’s great to have such a supportive manager and wider team and I’m looking forward to the rest of this year!
Aarti Diwan - Senior Marketing Manager
My journey at Hanson Wade started in 2014 as a graduate Marketing Assistant. From the beginning, it was exciting to see the impact any individual can have on driving the success of a project by sharing an idea and then working with a collaborative, open-minded and ambitious team to bring it to life. Through learning from my peers as well as more senior members of the company, including the Marketing Director and the CEO, this fast-paced role allowed me to familiarise myself with marketing theory and practice, the Martech used and the workings of the wider business.
Within my first year I was promoted to Marketing Executive and given campaigns to manage for multiple events across a wide range of channels, and the following year I was promoted to Marketing Manager as I started developing strategies for a dedicated portfolio of events. Since then, with a new and invigorating challenge each year, I’ve had the opportunity to own and drive the marketing campaigns for some of the biggest Hanson Wade brands including CAR-TCR and World ADC. In 2018, I also took on line management responsibilities and was well supported through our in-house training programme, the Wader Management Academy (WMA). This was an invaluable, practical learning experience that I apply day to day while managing both a Marketing Assistant and Marketing Executive.
Working in the events sector can be a real whirlwind of tight deadlines across multiple projects while meeting the demands of different teams but seeing the commercial result through teamwork is always thrilling! Most importantly, within this fast paced environment, I love that at Hanson Wade we consistently take a moment to stop and celebrate the efforts and success of teams and individuals by coming together outside of work - from team nights out to an incredible digital awards ceremony when we could not meet in person. I’m fortunate to have made some really great memories here with an amazing team, and look forward to more!
