Research Operations Manager - Life Science SaaS
Beacon is a competitive intelligence database that helps drug developers make better, faster decisions. We provide in-depth, high-quality, and timely information which allows our clients to identify and understand the drug, trial, deal and company activity within their field.
The Research Operations team is responsible for curating this content to the highest possible standard. Multiple sources of publicly available information including clinical trial registries, company websites and academic publications are reviewed for relevant new data, and this data is then extracted and used to update Beacon records following defined procedures, including rigorous quality control. As well as an in-house team of researchers, we partner with vendors for some of our processes and the role would involve ensuring these partners meet defined service level agreements, and effective working relationships are maintained. We are looking for an experienced manager to take responsibility for a team of researchers, ensuring content delivery is in line with client expectation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee delivery of content according to agreed KPIs of accuracy, timeliness, and comprehensiveness.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders including customers, managers, senior leaders, leadership and all other team members.
- Understand the needs of the team and anticipate future changes.
- Provide support to direct reports and be responsible for career development.
- Manage recruitment within the team and induct new staff.
- Instil a culture of responsiveness with regards to internal and external user support.
- Instil a culture of critical thinking with regards to process, policy, and product.
- Ensure high levels of motivation, stimulation and engagement of the team under your supervision.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of the end-to-end drug development process.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively and accurately communicate both internally and externally.
- Able to collaborate effectively.
- Proactive nature.
- Open to change.
- Able to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Some overseas travel would potentially be required in this role.
Education and experience:
- BSc in life sciences subject
- 2+ years relevant work experience in a managerial role.
- Experience in the commercial side of pharmaceutical/biotech industry is desirable.
